Have
you ever made an Excel add-in and then misplaced the original xls-file? Then
you can find the solution here.
Here
you buy an Excel add-in that converts Excel add-ins back to xls-format. Due to the possible misuse of this program, I
have chosen not to distribute it free of charge but to sell it.
The decompiler
is dead, long live the “decompiler”. This
page has been closed for a long time due to complaints from Microsoft (which is
a compliment, really). Their complaint was that they claim that it is illegal
to decompile programs. As Excel add-ins are not really compiled, there
should be no problem. Since my program does not decompile add-ins but just make
them viewable, I’ve now called it the Add-in “decompiler”. You must accept to
use this program only on add-ins of which you are the legitimate owner of the
source code.
For add-ins made in Excel 97/2000/2002 the only thing that differs between add-ins and ordinary workbooks is the IsAddin-property of the workbook. If the Visual Basic code is password protected, and you have forgot your password, you can find the solution here: VBA Key
The Add-in
“decompiler” converts add-ins that where made in Excel 5.0/7.0 (95) into
normal Excel workbooks. All password protection is removed and all hidden
sheets are made visible. Visual Basic code is also visible. Of course, only
add-ins that are made in Excel can be converted to workbooks (it is also
possible to write add-ins using C). In Excel 2002 it may take several minutes
to finish (depending on the length and number of passwords), but in earlier
versions it normally finishes in seconds.
The Add-in
“decompiler” works in all versions of Excel from 5.0 and above (Excel 7.0 /
Excel 95 / Excel 2000 / Excel 2002 / Office XP)
